PET Daily QA Step-by-Step Instructions

Time needed: 15 minutes

How-to: PET Daily QA procedure- Take Current Reading Part 1

  1. Select Exam RX on right-side monitor.

  2. Click on [Daily Prep] on left side monitor.

  3. Select [PET Daily QA] on upper right corner of left-side monitor.

Tabs will be displayed across the top of your screen with following selections:
VIEW BASELINE: Displays the Graph for Baseline Reading and disables the [ESTABLISH A BASELINE] button. The button label changes to VIEW CURRENT. The Graph for Baseline Reading represents the currently established Daily QA baseline, if one exists.
VIEW CURRENT: Displays the Graph for Current Reading and activates the [ESTABLISH A BASELINE] button. The button label changes to VIEW RATIO. The Graph for Current Reading displays the most recently acquired Daily QA data. When you click the [ESTABLISH A BASELINE] button, the system copies the contents of the selected values over the corresponding contents of the Graph for Baseline Reading file. So, you may update a single value, multiple values or all the values.
VIEW RATIO: Displays the Graph for Ratio Data and disables the [ESTABLISH A BASELINE] button. The button label changes to VIEW BASELINE.

  4. Select [Take Current Reading].

  5. A dialogue box opens to display the message: “The Transmission Source will be Exposed! Proceed?”

  6. Select [OK].

  7. Press the flashing “Move to Scan” (if required) then press start scan buttons to initiate the acquisition.

  8. The software automatically processes the data, then opens an Image Quality and Graph GUI with details of pass or fail status. The GUI displays selection buttons along the top of the panel, and a table of values at the bottom of the GUI panel.

  9. Move the cursor over the strip charts to display the Module, Block, Crystal Row, Crystal Column, and Data Value values along the bottom of the screen. Follow the procedures in the service documentation to troubleshoot and/or replace any bad modules, and recalibrate the system.

  10. When satisfied with the Image Quality and Graph display results, proceed to Establish a Baseline, and set the Baseline Date.

  11. Process is Complete. You may now click Exit to close QA panel

  12. Click [YES] to close the dialogue box

  13. Establish Baseline

From the pull down menus select [View Current Reading] and [View Data] to display the Graph for Current Reading panel.
-If the graph contents look acceptable, click [Establish a Baseline], to open a list of prior Baseline Data.
-If the graph contents are not acceptable, troubleshoot the problem

  14. Close data table.

Use the mouse to move the cursor over a box or label, then click-left to display a check mark in the box. Click a second time to toggle the check mark off. The data table at the bottom of the panel disappears.

  15. Write New Data.

Select all the Data Types, then click [Accept] to overwrite the baseline information with the corresponding check marked data.

  16. Exit Window.

Click [Exit] to close the Baseline Data Selector panel. Detector modules in the detector ring may be made by different manufacturers which can result in shade variations from module to module in the graphic display. These variations are not “Stand alone” indicators that the module is out of specification or impact image quality. Always refer to the data specified and consult with service engineer if any issues arise.

  17. Process Complete

Click [EXIT] to close the Daily QA panel.
